Igort is among the most important Italian graphic novel authors.
The film tells the method, the design and the work process Igort’s last works, which represent a major narrative turn to the author.
DEEP TIME
The film portraits the ancient geography of Selinunte in Sicily, through the popular experience of illegal diggers who, no longer in the business, reveal as privileged witnesses some events of that territory.
THE BRIDE
Dressed in a wedding gown, the Milanese artist Pippa Bacca leaves her native city in direction of Jerusalem. Accompanied by fellow artist Silvia Moro, both women hitchhike their way across the Balkans with a clear aspiration: opening themselves towards “the Other”. As their travel-performance unfolds, the artists decide to take two different paths and Pippa is later found dead in Turkey. The film embarked on a journey in quest of her memories.
URBAN EXTREMES, JERUSALEM
Between cyberspace and daily life, “Jerusalem – Urban Extremes” is a insight into the conflictual use of space in the Holy City. What does planning and building imply in a complex city, divided between fought-over territory and holy land.
Contemporary art as a tool for resistance. The Romany artists, whose cultural capital is Budapest, use art as a medium to overthrow and discuss the main cultural images which the European media have created around the Romany minority.
